I study what helps students learn to read and write, so more of them do.

The science of reading, writing, and learning has given us a clearer path. My work advances that science and moves it into usable practice so educators, schools, and systems can focus on what works and let go of what doesn't.

PhD, UT Austin Asst. Professor, Georgia State Faculty Affiliate, Center on Acquiring Language & Literacy

Research informs my practice. Practice transforms my research.

I study what works in literacy and what it takes to make that work in real classrooms. Through intervention research, professional learning, consulting, and implementation partnerships, I bring evidence into schools and learn alongside the educators using it. Those lessons return to my research, sharpening the questions I ask, the interventions I develop, and the evidence we build.

The result is work that is rigorous, usable, and continually refined where it matters most. Let's get to work.
